One of the ways we provide quality dental care to patients is by using digital dental photography. Continue reading below to learn more about the dental technology our Westland dentists offer!
Digital Dental Photography Technology
We use an intraoral camera no bigger than an electric toothbrush to take high-quality pictures of your teeth and gums. This allows our dentists to better diagnose oral health issues and help you understand what’s going on inside your mouth. Since the intraoral camera takes pictures in high detail, we’re able to detect tooth decay, gum disease, and other problems in their early stages.
Since we use digital photography, we don’t have to wait for film to come back from the processing lab. Instead, we’re able to almost immediately see the inside of your mouth in high detail. One of the benefits of using an intraoral camera is that we’re able to access hard-to-reach areas inside your mouth (like back teeth) to capture dental images.
Less Radiation Exposure
Are you worried about radiation exposure from teeth x-rays? Compared to film-based x-rays, digital x-rays reduce your radiation exposure by 75% or more. Our commitment to patient safety means that we use digital dental x-rays to detect disease and help you maintain a healthy smile.
High Definition (HD) X-Rays
Our dentists take HD x-rays, which can be enhanced and magnified to detect disease. Unlike film x-rays, digital x-rays appear on our screen within seconds. If we find a problem, we can show you the image so you can better understand your treatment options. Since your teeth x-rays are HD, your insurance company will also be more likely to cover dental services when they can see for themselves how the tooth is compromised.
Our dentists pride themselves on using the latest dental technology to improve your experience as a patient. To schedule an appointment with one of our Westland dentists, call the Parkside Dental Team at (734) 261-6060.
Our dentists take continuing education credits to learn about advanced procedures and technology to improve your experience in the chair.

Digital SLR Photography
At Parkside Dental Team, you can see exactly what your doctor sees.
We make use of Digital SLR photography to show our patients exactly why there is a need for treatment. Whether it is a cracked tooth, decay under an existing restoration, or gum disease, you will be able to see everything in a crystal clear, high definition image.
Using macro photography, we can operate our model of co-diagnosis, in which the doctor and patient can diagnose treatment together in an understandable way.
In the photograph below, it is clear that these teeth have cracks and decay under old silver fillings. The need for new fillings is obvious, but without the photography, its not always clear there is a problem.
