Tooth pain is your body’s way of letting you know something is wrong. Call our office if you need emergency dental care. Our emergency dentists will do everything in their power to save a tooth.
The sooner you call our office, the less likely you’ll need a root canal or emergency tooth extraction. If you aren’t able to reach our office, go to the nearest emergency room for treatment.
Seek emergency dental care if you have a:
- Knocked-out tooth
- Broken tooth
- Toothache
- Bitten tongue or lip that won’t stop bleeding
- Dental abscess (looks like a pimple on your gums)
What to do for a toothache:
- Floss to remove any trapped food particles
- Swish with warm salt water
- Take over-the-counter pain relievers
- Keep a record of your tooth pain
- Call our emergency dentist if pain persists
What to do for a broken tooth:
- Save all pieces of broken tooth
- Rinse mouth with warm water
- Put gauze or gum over the tooth if it has jagged edges
- Call our emergency dentist
What to do for a knocked-out tooth:
- Pick tooth up by the crown (top of tooth) to avoid damaging the roots
- Gently rinse tooth in warm water
- Place tooth back in socket or submerge in cup of milk so tooth doesn’t dry out
- Call our emergency dentist
